Dr. S. Wade Hampton,
founder of
HIM
Ministries, was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri in the late 1950’s and
spent his younger years being very active in church, sports, and study. He was a
good athlete and student who learned well the value of hard work and service to
church and community.
Hampton graduated high school in the mid 1970’s and
went on to pursue undergraduate studies in business. He received his Bachelor
of Business Administration degree from
Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth.
During his time at TCU, Hampton spent two years swimming on the varsity team.
Upon graduation from TCU, Hampton entered the business
world and worked for a large international corporation. Actually, Hampton had
begun working for that company in the factory as a teenager.
Though having attended church weekly most of his life,
in April of 1985, Hampton responded to a television advertisement by President Ronald Reagan and sent off for a little blue book entitled,
Power for Living. While reading that book, Wade accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Then, at the age of thirty-four, Hampton resigned his position from that same company as a top executive
and pursued graduate studies in theology through
Zoe University
in Jacksonville, Florida. After much hard work and some years
later, Wade received a Ph.D. in Theology and a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling.
Hampton then worked as a chaplain at a drug and alcohol treatment center. He
also did volunteer work as a police chaplain and prison chaplain. Wade’s love
for law enforcement motivated him toward the profession. He spent several
years as a law enforcement officer obtaining the rank of police chief in
a small rural town in northern Missouri. Wade currently specializes in
emergency preparedness and chaplaincy for emergency personnel.
Over the years Hampton has worked extensively in
children’s ministry, youth ministry, prison ministry, drug/alcohol recovery
ministry, counseling ministry, and much more.
Author of the life changing book,
The High Places,
Wade continues with prison ministry, serves as a chaplain for regional emergency personnel, and much more.
As a Licensed Christian Counselor, Dr. Hampton’s vast
life experiences, education, and work related efforts give him an in-depth and unique perspective on
ministering to and assisting others with their trials in life.
